The small print:
Hackney Half Marathon
Previous SJ runners have commented on the vibrancy and crowd support throughout this well organised event. To add to this already great mix, the route is flat and fast, making it perfect for anyone doing their first half marathon or looking for a PB.
Price: This event is currently sold out but SJ places are available for £50
Fundraising: We encourage SJ runners at the Hackney Half marathon to commit to raising funds for our partners, WF-AID.
Selection: Please submit your application by Friday 14 Feb and selected runners will be contacted by Monday 17 Feb. There will be limited SJ training support for this event as our focus will be on The Big Half. We will select runners via an independent panel focusing on (a) clear plan for fundraising; (b) previous running history and ability to train for the event without club support; (c) enthusiasm for the event. Where there is a tie, SJ volunteers and run leaders will be given preference.
The Big Half
With SJ having a strong presence at this event over the past few years, running past iconic landmarks in a “road-closed” event through central London, this promises to be the major club running event of the year.
Price: This event is currently sold out but SJ places are available for £25
Fundraising: We encourage SJ runners at The Big Half marathon to commit to raising funds for “AAWA – Ali Asghar Water Appeal” – the annual water collection by WF-Aid.
Selection: Please submit your application by Friday 28 Feb and selected runners will be contacted by Monday 10 March. SJ will provide support to runners with training plans, group runs and experienced runners providing guidance as much as possible.
We will select runners via an independent panel focusing on (a) running history – priority will be given to those running their first Half Marathon; (b) participation at SJ running events; (c) motivation to run a half marathon.

Hackney:
Applications by Friday 14/2
Runners will be informed by Monday 17/2 at which point you will be invited to make the payment fee to SJ within 24 hours of being notified of a place. Once payment has been made SJ will send you confirmation of your spot. If you do not make payment within 24 hours, SJ reserves the right to offer the spot to another member.
Big Half:
Applications by Friday 28/2
Runners will be informed by 10/3 at which point SJ will send you a link to register on the portal and make a direct payment to the organisers of the event. If you do not make payment within 24 hours, SJ reserves the right to offer the spot to another member.
