2022 was the first year for Stanmore Jafferys under its new CIO entity. It was also the first full year of resumption of all activity since the Covid-19 pandemic hit in 2020 and curtailed many of our sporting activities for our members.
In line with the clubs new governance structure, both the gents and ladies EC, with support from sports coordinators, presented the 2023 budget to the Board of Trustees at their meeting in December 2022 for formal approval. A significant part of the discussion at the Board focused on the cost of living crisis, rising costs of venues in 2022/23 and how to ensure Stanmore Jafferys can continue to provide a high quality service for its members across all sports while ensuring sporting costs remain value for money.
2022 has seen a significant increase in venue hire costs (some venue hire costs have risen by as much as up to 60% since 2021). However, given it was also the first full year sporting activities were resuming since the pandemic, the club felt it was important to encourage participation in sports, by freezing the majority of Pay As You Go (PAYG) costs for our sports, with the club absorbing as much of the increased venue hire costs.
Following approval of the 2023 budget by the Board, we are pleased to inform our members that membership cost for 2023 will remain the same as last year (with the exception of gents seniors). A few sports will see rises in PAYG costs for next year and these are listed below the membership sign up information.
The annual fee membership for 2023 is outlined below:
