SJ football had come to a grinding halt much like everything else globally with the pandemic, so when normality somewhat resumed we were adamant about reigniting the sport again.Week in week out we have had waitlists for ladies wanting to play on Wednesdays and to thank all our members for being so amazing, the coordinators hosted an SJ Euros Tournament on the last Wednesday of March to close the season off.We had our regulars, new players and some as young as 16 show up to represent a country in Europe. We had 4 countries, Italy, Germany, France and Portugal participate in the 10 minute games. What an evening it was. Some fabulous goals, whopping saves, a single game hat trick and even a controversial ref call for a goal (or not!)All round great team play and community spirit ending with the customary chai and mandazi.Winners after a thrilling penalty session between France  (yellow team) and Italy  (black team) was Italy. The game ended 1-1 and penalties saw Italy take the win (again!)Third place was a united win between Portugal (red team) and Germany (blue team)MVP: Sakina GulamhusseinGoalie of the tournament: Aamina TharooHat trick in a single game: Sameera ChagparMoral of the evening: Don’t be England – they don’t even get selected to represent in SJ games
