Stanmore had the pleasure of visiting Brentford FC for their match against Man United on 19th January 2022. It was cold crisp evening and a fantastic opportunity for some of our youngsters to watch a great game between these two sides.
We caught up with Zainab Damani who attended the game with her father. Here’s what she had to say:
On Wednesday 19th January, my dad came to pick me up from school and he had a wonderful surprise for me that I was not expecting. We were super lucky to get tickets for a Premier League match at the home of Brentford FC, from Stanmore Jafferys.
I wrapped up super warm and carefully put my snacks together, ready to travel on the train to Brentford. I couldn’t believe the amount of people, noise and passion around the stadium when I got there. It wasn’t long until we got our tickets and made our way into the stadium. The seats and view were amazing! I could see famous players right near me and saw how well they trained before kick-off. When the match kicked off, the noise was almost deafening but it only added to my excitement. To my surprise Manchester United did
n’t play very well in the first half and Brentford had some really amazing chances to take the lead. However, by half time it was still nil-nil and I knew that Manchester United would fight back in the second half. To be honest, I didn’t mind who won because I was just enjoying the atmosphere and cheering on any goals that went in. I wasn’t expecting to see four great goals and it was fun to see how the players celebrated in different ways with their fans. The match finished 3-1 to Manchester United and the away fans continued to sing and chant, well after we left the stadium.
Thank you Stanmore Jafferys, for the amazing opportunity and I hope to attend many more live games like this in the future.
A massive thank you to Brentford FC for their community partnership with SJ & SJFC. We look forward to more to come this season.
