Following the resignation of the Chairlady, an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) was convened on Thursday 21st October and subsequently reconvened on Thursday 4th November to give members the opportunity to elect a new Chairlady. This EGM also gives members an opportunity to stand for the position if they wish to do so.

For those who were unable to attend, please see an extract of the EGM below:

With over 550 female members and 15-20 individual sports sessions per week, Stanmore Jafferys has grown exponentially over the past few years. Managed by a small but highly dedicated group of volunteers, going forward, the club not only needs to focus on delivering sporting activities on a daily basis but also on governance, technological infrastructure, commercial and financial partnerships, sponsorship, internal and external outreach and marketing among other things.

With the CIO process well underway, the leadership team is required to carry out a number of processes to ensure that the club is ready for the transition with the Chair being a driving force behind this change.

As such, we have looked to restructure the team such that we are able to deliver the above while working to the strengths and assets each team member brings.

Following the EGM, Sabiha Chagpar has been elected as the Chair of Stanmore Jafferys Ladies. Sabiha will focus on building the long term strategic vision of the club and Insha Allah ensure that the transition to a CIO is as smooth as possible.

Samina Govani will take on the role of Vicechair and will lead the operational aspect of the club working with the sports leads and coordinators to ensure weekly activities continue to be delivered to a high standard. As such, from a member and coordinator perspective, there is little change in the operational leadership of the club.

Gulshan Walji will continue as a key Executive Committee Member assisting with operational leadership and working with the wider team to deliver new concepts and ideas effectively to continue to engage the membership.

Fatemah Rajabali continues as Assistant Secretary with Fatema Zahra Hassan and Burayha Lalji remaining as Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer respectively.

We therefore have a vacant position on the Executive Committee for the role of Secretary. Please click on the below link to see what the role entails and, if you are interested in this role, please contact any of the Executive Committee members stated above or email chairlady@jafferys.org.

We would love for YOU to get involved in YOUR community club and be part of our team!

JOIN THE TEAM AS SECRETARY

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your ongoing support and confidence in our leadership team to deliver ladies sports at Stanmore Jafferys.
