On Saturday 9th March 2019, our budding 12+ netballers were offered a fantastic opportunity to take part in an external friendly netball tournament with teams from across Harrow.
The tournament took place at JFS School with 8 SJ Girls attending under the guidance of our Netball Coach – Lucy Lawrence.
Well done girls for demonstrating amazing team play and sportsmanship!
Tournament Report by Zainab Fatima Merali
On Saturday 9th March 2019, the girls team for SJ took part in a nerve-wracking netball tournament. The girls who took part were:
Zainab Fatima Merali, Hanaan Merali, Aaliya Kalyan, Hajrah Kazmi, Saman Khaku, Malika Gulamhusein, Amina Al-Shahib & Sakina Jaffer
Lucy, our netball coach, was there guiding us throughout. The first match was against the Blues and it was a tough game. We played well but unfortunately lost 10-0. The second match was against the Pinks and we were in high sprits winning 3-0. We then played a wonderful game against the Reds and had a triumphant 6-0 win!
We all then enjoyed some lunch and did some skills training while waiting for the semi-finals to begin.
The two semi-finals were SJ vs. Blues and Pinks vs. Reds. In a twist, the Reds left and forfeited allowing the Pinks to go through to the Final. In our semi-final, we improved on the previous score against the Blues however lost 7-3.
All in all, SJ did very well considering it was our first time playing together as a team. Despite the loss at the end, we had a brilliant time!
