A warm and sunny May bank holiday (31st May 2021) saw a highly anticipated inaugural SJ Half Marathon Virtual Relay take place.
The relay consisted of 2 teams of 13 individuals with each person in the team walking/jogging/running 1 mile in their respective local areas in a relay format. So, the daunting task of doing 13.1 miles became a shared task of 1 mile each based on team spirit and camaraderie.
The teams were led by coordinators Kayla Black and Tarannam Khaku with many ladies exceeding their expectations and 1-mile target times. Both teams managed to complete their half marathon well before the allocated times.
The race was incredibly close with Team Kayla (2 hours 56 mins) just pipping Team Tara (3 hours 5 mins) to the post!
A huge well done to all who took part and thank you to all organisers and coordinators behind the scenes.
