The much awaited Bondminton tournament returned after 3 long years!
Friday 9th December saw a whopping 80 participants ranging from mothers / daughters / grandmothers / aunties / nieces / cousins all competing for a trophy.
In our normal weekly badminton sessions, they are split by age, therefore, this tournament saw the ‘Bond’ing of different ages all coming together playing Badminton, a sport loved by all.
Winners were as follows:
Age 9-11;
1st place – Saarah Ajwani & Maryam Bhimji
2nd place – Ameera & Nabeeha Haji
Age 12-15;
1st place – Sagira & Sara Jetha
2nd place – Shafana & Aliya Muraj
The participants were asked to come in fancy dress as well to add to the fun. And this certainly became another competition in itself! We had incredible outfits, with people dressing up as the Addams family, punks, shuttlecocks, basketballers, you name it!
But the winners of the fancy dress competition were as follows:
4th place – Siddika and Sumayya Walji,
3rd place – Abidah and Zahra Valjy
2nd place – Shine and Sofia Nurmohamed,
1st place – Fatima and Aamena Gulamhussein, and Safiyya and Asiyah Merali Dewji.
Winners received either a beauty hamper, or an Amazon voucher – what more could you ask for?!
It was an evening filled with laughter, which saw different ages coming together and being united through their love for sport – everything that SJ is all about!
