On 1st Rajab (weekend of 13th-14th February), in celebration of the Wiladat of the 5th Imam, Stanmore Jafferys participated in what we called “Khushalentines”. The event was about celebrating, exchanging gifts and keeping active at a time when the Covid-19 lockdown and cold winter days were being felt across our community.

The rules were simple:

1- Make/buy a small item for a neighbour allocated to them

2 – Deliver the gift through some form of exercise i.e walking, running or cycling

The response was amazing with 100 participants from girls as young as 6 years old to grandmothers in their 70s. We also had ladies participating in Birmingham as well! The time and effort everyone dedicated to making personalised gifts and treats blew us away and we would like to thank everyone who took part.

The weekend was BUZZING with messages and photos – from making and receiving gifts to the walk, run or cycle delivery in between!

Some of the feedback we received:

“Amazing job with khushalentines! Was a brilliant idea ? well done!!”

“This was an awesome initiative and loved the happiness it brought by giving presents to others”

“We really enjoyed our walk of the day and doing something special”

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your participation, support, encouragement, and the enthusiasm you bring!

Thank you!
