SJ first held our inaugural sports day for the seniors back in Summer 2019. Since then, multiple lockdowns, legal restrictions and lack of space has meant that we haven’t be able to hold it again; until now!
This years SJLS Sports Day was held on Wednesday 1st June with the intention that our youth were on their half term break from school and could come along and engage and assist our seniors. Seeing the youth mixing with seniors was heart warming.
The day was filled with games and races as you would see at a usual school sports day, such as the egg and spoon race, as well as a ring toss.
Arguably, the most exciting race was the relay, in which half of each team was lined up at either end of the ladies main hall, and ladies had to race it out.
It was brilliant to see our seniors relive aspects of their youth.
Alhamdulillah, it was an incredible day. A huge thank you to our volunteers without whom we would not have been able to do this event.
We hope to do more events for the seniors in the future. Therefore, watch this space!
Please note: many ladies were without hijab, hence we aren’t able to show many pictures.
